Order of the Phoenix, the real

It's 3AM. I've been reading since I got home, at 1:00.

Have finished up to chapter 13.

Spoilers behind the cut.

( I am so not kidding about the spoilers... )

Barns & Noble was crazy, handed out tickets for those of us who'd reserved copies, then they called us by lot numbers- we, of course, were in the dead last, or as I put it, "mob scene" group.

fablespinner, you remember those fire code violations at the crappy anime con? Man- B&N had them beat, let me tell you. Don't know what they'd have done if there was a fire, but somebody would've sued and probably won, I'm sure.

I think this book was worth a 3 year wait, but that doesn't mean I'm anxious to go through that again.

Order of the Phoenix, continued

Am now up to chapter- um, nineteen? Can't remember. It's a good book, but I find I have to read it in sections. Some of it makes me angry, some of it is upsetting- this is a dark book.

I love my book, hence the icon, but I am also a little unnerved by it. It is- creepy in places.

I think I may vanish off LJ for a while here, at least until I finish the book. I'm too tempted to click on lj cut links for things I haven't read yet.

My year 5 fic is seriously AU already, as the Order of the Phoenix is not quite what I imagined it to be. I am not changing my Order one bit- I like it the way it is, and it's interesting I think from a looking back sort of perspective.

Well.

Have finished book, handed it to Mom. Shortly after nearly bursting into tears, muttering, "no, no, no, she can't, she can't" over and over.

From here on I go on more or less as I have been- canon is canon, and I'll use it where I like, turn it on its side for AU when I like.

The Order of the Phoenix hasn't changed anything.

And yet it's changed everything.

Does that make any sense at all to you guys?
