Have finished book, handed it to Mom. Shortly after nearly bursting into tears, muttering, "no, no, no, she can't, she can't" over and over.

My list was too extensive, and she chose somebody on it. Not Snape, at least- but oh, almost as bad. Sirius. Poor Sirius, who will now never have his day of reckoning, never be proven innocent before the world...and I so wanted that for him, someday.

*sigh*

McGonagall's age as way-older-than-Snape is now in printed canon. I can live with that.

I am not, by the way, changing anything in any of my work-in-progress fics as a result of OoP. No, not even my WentToHogwartsWithSnape!Minerva. Not this trip, sorry.

Pride and Prejudice, after all, is Pride and Prejudice- and I need to read that book, much as I loath Austen.

From here on I go on more or less as I have been- canon is canon, and I'll use it where I like, turn it on its side for AU when I like.

The Order of the Phoenix hasn't changed anything.

And yet it's changed everything.

Does that make any sense at all to you guys?
