The Deepest Fear (Harry Potter drabbel)

I took a very long nap this evening, so I'm going to be awake for a while.

Little something I wrote- Harry Potter drabble for the hp100 challenge of the week. Boggarts.

I had a lot of fun with that. Will probably go back and do some of their older challenges for my own amusement, as some of them were pretty good- patronus, mirror of Erised, and end of term in particular.

They say every girl can tell you who her best friend is.

Me, I don't have one anymore.

A long time ago there were best friends- one moved away, the other manipulated me for years before I realized it.

Then there was Adam, who I made the mistake of falling in love with. Bad idea. We were alright as friends, but it never worked out. And you can't turn back the clock. Especially not when he hates you for stuff you didn't even do.

Then there was Lindsay. But Lindsay's best friend is Melissa.

Roxanne, but her best friend is Ria...

Jonni, whose best friend is someone I've never met (and she's gone now anyway, off to Arizona)...

Necie, who had great best girlfriend potential, till she turned out to be a flake and... not a good person.

Mica, who manipulated me with a style my old best friend could have envied.

I have some really cool friends. But I am nobody's best friend.

You guys remember the big news I was talking about before finals? I kept meaning to say something about it, never did. Wrote another of those letters to Lindsay I'll never send, and still- haven't told a soul.

I wanted to tell it to one good friend, first, but I haven't got one.

I'm not mad at you, Linds, Rox, Andromache, the rest of you... I'm just lonely and a bit depressed. And lacking a best friend.

Have turned my fan up to medium instead of its usual low, not that it seems to make much difference. It's broiling in my room. The news says it was cooler today- 80 something. I wouldn't know, not having ventured outside, but the humidity's somewhere around 40%, which would probably explain why I'm so miserable here.

I loath summer.

Yes, this is going to go on probably until...October? Usually it's cooled down around here by then. It's the constant love/hate. I love summer, I loath it, I love it, I loath it...

Free time is good. Heat sucks.

Have uploaded the last ten Order of the Phoenix countdown icons; they're here if anybody would like to see them. I'm really pleased with how these turned out, so you'll probably see them again with different text.

Am feeling slightly better now. Less bitchy, anyway. I was bitchy earlier.

I'm thinking tonight might be the night I try my once-a-summer experiment of staying up for as close to 24 hours as I can. I really just don't want to go to bed.

Too hot to sleep anyway.

Figured out how to do a little LJ override today- notice the geeky comment links? It was honestly the only thing I could come up with. It was either that or Cruciatus, and I've gotten enough strange flame-ish comments lately. Don't want to give people ideas.

Weirder things, too- about a half-dozen reviews for The Secret Hours, which all start out something like "I'm not a fan of this pairing but..."

Does anyone else just not know how to take those?
