urbandruidThe questions project is going pretty well, considering I'm looking like an idiot. I guess I forgot to read over the list once or twice before I posted it. *sigh*
Anyway. Fathers' day. I'm not big on Fathers' day, since my own is sort of, you know, totally absent and all. So usually I end up hanging out with my grandparents, eating strange food and chatting about the trips Grandpa is taking this summer. He's going- somewhere, I can't even remember where just now. But he wanted film.
Yeah. Grandpa's a bit odd. Nobody ever knows what to get him for birthdays, Christmas, Fathers' Day, because he has everything he needs, and he never wants anything. But he loves taking pictures, and the ones that aren't of the family at the table in the middle of eating on holidays are pretty damn good.
He does a lot of nature photography- Yosemite National Park, which isn't that far from here, the Grand Canyon, stuff like that. I wish there were a way for me to show you guys some of the stuff he's done, because it's great.
I love my grandfather. I have no idea how to talk to him, and he has no idea how to talk to me, but I love him. It's not that I don't. It's just that Fathers' Day makes me a bit cranky and annoyed, and I'd prefer to do what Mom and I used to do before we moved back home, which is to treat it like any other Sunday.
So here I am, getting ready to go over to my grandparents' place for lunch, kind of dreading it the way I dread this meal every year. It's not that it's their fault or anything, the way I feel about today, it's just kind of...the way it is.
