2008 meme gacked from [livejournal.com profile] irreparable

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Hm... not much I guess.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't do these anymore, though I'd like to write more of my own stuff this year, clean a bunch of crap out of my house, and, you know, not lose my MIND.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries places did you visit?
*snicker* *snort* *sob* I went to the Monteray Bay Aquarium with my Oceanography class. Other than that- home, school, the library, Grandma's, the usual places.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
More money, world peace, and for things to be just a little less crazy.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Gah... too much stuff, too many days, and it's not really good stuff.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not losing my mind. Seriously. Although getting the federal student aid was kind of cool too.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Oh screw you, meme question writer person. 2008 sucked, but I don't recall failing in any specific way. Thanks. :P

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Oh yeah. Both actually. I had: kidney stones, migraines, tendonitis in my shoulder, the cold from HELL, and bronchitis.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Playstation 3.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My Mom, as always. She has a lot of crap to deal with and she's doing pretty well.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I don't know if 'appalled' really applies, but the way my grandmother is(n't) dealing with Grandpa's Alzheimer's is depressing. And frustrating.

14. Where did most of your money go?
What money? ;)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Studying in London. Which isn't going to happen this year.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
...I want to be reminded of this year, why? Really I can't think of one.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder?
About the same I guess.

ii. thinner or fatter?
Probably thinner.

iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Laughing

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Hanging out in doctors' offices.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas morning with Mom. Since we slacked off and didn't order our presents in time to have them for Christmas, 'Santa' (this would be me) put some Star Wars toys we'd never gotten around to opening under the tree. So Mom opened R2-Potatoo and the Spud Trooper, and some other stuff. Then we went to Grandma's for brunch. Oh, and Mom had bronchitis! That was fun too.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Pfft. No.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Or possibly Mythbusters.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, I think I still hate the same people.

26. What was the best book you read?
I read a lot of good stuff this year, but... okay, Queen of Scots by John Guy. Very cool biography.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
None, really. Hasn't been a great year for music for me.

28. What did you want and get?
I'm getting a new laptop for Christmas, should be here on Monday. Yay!

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Did I even go to the movies this year? Oh yeah, I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. That, then.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went to class and went out to dinner with Mom. I was 27

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If they hadn't had to cancel the study abroad in London gig, that would've rocked.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Comfy-casual. Same as always really.

34. What kept you sane?
My cat. And for some reason, playing LEGO Star Wars.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hell, I dunno.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Prop 8 here in California, the ban on gay marriage. Which passed, but is now making its merry way through the court systems because the State Attorney General filed stuff against it.

37. Who did you miss?
Grandpa, before he got sick.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a lot of cool people in my classes, who I'll probably never see again.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Like my Mom says, sometimes life's a bitch.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
If I could find something appropriate, it would be about pain and exhaustion and how sometimes this past year I've hated everything. Not going to bother trying to find one.

Well. That was lovely. Don't know that I'll be doing a real year in review post today. Maybe later. This was enough of a downer.

I think maybe it's time to just move forward.
