For those of you not in receipt of a semi-stoned Druid tag tonight, I finally went to see my doc (last week? no, the week before, I think?) about my headaches, because they suck and I'm tired of them. She said probably migraines, gave me some stuff to try, call her if it works, etc.

I got 2 different drugs to try, and took one tonight when my head started hurting in that throbbing stabby sort of way. It worked, and pretty well, but the side effects are... strange.

My throat and lower jaw feel stiff and a little sore, and it kind of hurts when I swallow. Actually it kind of hurts a lot, which wouldn't be so bad if I didn't keep getting thirsty, and wanting to drink a lot. Also? Am tired, and yawning, and that's unpleasent too. This side effect really sucks, though it's better than the damn migraine, no question. Will try the other drug on my next headache and see what annoys me less.

Anyway. It's pretty early for me, but I feel kind of cruddy and I have to go to class tomorrow, so I'm going to go to bed very shortly.

Hon, did you mention this side effect to anyone before you went to bed? You might really want to next time, if you didn't. We don't want anything serious happening to you!

No worries, I did tell Mom before I crashed out. Also looked up potential side effects in our drug book before I took anything, and charmingly, it's supposed to do that. Or at least might do that. We figure it's because of all the veins and artieries in the neck, and how the drugs can't (unfortunatly) just target the pesky ones in my head. And you should have SEEN the list of potential side effects, because of course they have to tell you about EVEY little thing even if it's only ever happened to one person. 'Course, a lot of it breaks down to "Don't take this stuff if you're an 80-year old fat guy with heart problems and/or a history of stroke" which is kind of a duh...

Thanks for the concern though! *hugs* This is why I read what it might do to me first, so I know what they expect it to do, and what they don't.

*hugs* Good girl :)

I've become more aware of this kind of thing recently since someone on a forum I read posted that she felt like she was going to have a seizure and was then offline for a day -- panicked everyone. I'm always more comfortable when I know at least one other local person knows what's going on. :D

Yeah, I see what you mean. Same reason I pinged you that time [livejournal.com profile] leviathanmuse told me she felt like she was choking, then went quiet. I was like 'oO...'
