And the weather and being hot or cold? After an upstate New York winter of creeping dampness and blowing snow, I think I prefer heat to cold. Here, it frequently gets up to and above 100 (farenheit) or 40 celcius, but that's with no humidity, so I feel very sorry for you, wherever you are.
As people here are fond of remarking at either temperature extreme (-20 C/0 F or 40 C/100 F): it may be cold/hot but it's a dry cold/heat! I like my desert climate. Humidity is the devil.
Oh, and the comment links? Not too geeky, really. I enjoy a creative comment link, personally. Anyway, mine refer to peat bogs (in Newfoundland), if you want geeky.
