One of those weekends
Jul. 23rd, 2005 10:38 amUgh. It's been one of those weeks, and is now shaping up to be one of thos weekends. Mom finished HBP, and now Grandma wants to borrow it. Grandma has this habit of reading books, and instead of returning them to the person she borrowed them from, passing them along to a friend of hers... Long story short, we may not get it back for weeks or months, if we do get it back at all. This displeases me. Like Order of the Phoenix, I hung out at Barns & Noble for hours to get this thing, stood in a scary long line from hell, almost got whacked in the head by a store employee directing traffic (and I wish I'd brought my cane, because I would've whacked him right back)... Anyway, I'm not about to loan my book to Grandma on the off chance it might come back.
So it's off to Target before we head over there today, to buy another copy. If it comes back, we'll donate it to the library. The library loves me- they got a copy of OotP off me, too, 'cause I wasn't about to let Grandma run off with it, either.
We have to sign more house paperwork today. I swear, there is no end. But the house itself is coming along- the outside looks like it's about ready for stucco! They can't put up the drywall and whatnot inside till they finish the wiring and we take our tour to make sure they put everything where we want it, but still, it's starting to look like we might really be moving in late September.
The car is back, and behaving a little better. It still doesn't want to start now and then, but at this point we figure, if we have to be driving around in a car that may get fussy and not start right away, we'd rather do it in our car than my uncle's, which had the same problem, plus no air conditioning, and naturally it's been the hottest week of the summer so far. 105's to 108's every day we didn't have the car. It was 109 the day we went to run errunds, buy groceries, and had it die in the parking lot. It refused to start, we had to call my uncle to come fiddle with it... It was not fun. Then there was the day Mom smacked the dashboard because the lights on it didn't work- and the whole freaking dashboard fell forward. I had to hold it in place for about the last three miles home, and it wasn't fun. Damn thing was heavy. (We fixed it back in place with duct tape, which I'm pretty sure is what my uncle had holding it on in the first place.)
So, all in all, quirks or not, I'm glad we have our car back, even if it still does kind of suck.
I just wish I felt better. I'm not in a good mood, it's been a very long and stressful week, and I really don't want to go see my grandparents. I love them, I just... don't feel like I can deal with them right now. But, you know, Mom should have some company if the car decides to be stubborn. She had major dental work on Thursday, and I think if the car misbehaves too badly today, it's gonna regret it.
I'd still really just like to crawl back to bed, though. *sigh*
