The Quest for iPod
Feb. 7th, 2005 06:48 amGods, I hate Mondays. I hate Mondays a lot.
I spent most of Friday night and Saturday chasing an iPod around town, with no luck. I can find the minis, and occasionally the 20GB ones, but not the 40GB. Three guesses which one I want. The minis are cute, but sorta useless, and the 20GB breaks my rule for buying things with memory, which is to always buy way more memory than you think you need. Also, if I'm going to do this, I might as well buy the best one I can.
So I balanced my checkbook and figured I'd troop off to Comp USA, who I really like, and have liked a lot since I got more sympathy from them than Gateway when my old laptop blew up. No luck, though I did get to see, hold, and listen to an iPod, which someone was kind enough to load a 3 Doors Down song I like onto. I put the headphones on and just about fell over. The sound quality was fantastic. So I went yes, must buy, I want one of the big ones.
And then I was told they had none. I was not happy.
Drove to Circut City. Same song, second verse. Went home, quite annoyed. Almost ordered from Apple, decided to wait.
Saturday. Went to three office supply stores, looking for a new mousepad, compressed air, and the iPod. Found none of the above. They had mousepads, but they sucked, and some turkey has bought like all the compressed air in town.
Sunday: Ordered iPod and case from Apple. Free shipping! Yay!
I heart Apple right now.
I just wish I had the thing with me now, because I have to head off to the land of Really Scary, Really Stupid College Students, and I need something to save my sanity and drown them out.
Oh well. At least it's on its way.
