School, life, politics, natural disasters
Oct. 29th, 2003 06:25 amYou don't really want to know how bad my Monday was, but at least I survived it. My councelor is still smoking crack, but at least I got my signature. My B in Algebra must have started out a pretty high one, because despite flunking a test, I still have it. I never did study for the computers test at all, and I didn't end up feeling like I should have. Oh yes, and Mom was an hour late picking me up because she went somewhere with her boss instead of taking her own car. So we were late meeting the family at the resteraunt, they had to wait while we ate- way embarrasing- and then we all headed over to their house to look at boring vacation photos for almost two hours. While the high school band practiced just on the other side of the houses across the street, and was yelled at by the band director using a bullhorn.
"Alright, this is a new move, so don't screw it up!"
My family is still nuts, great-grandpa is off in his own little world, and my uncle's girlfriend told us nightmare stories about the contractors she hired to put tile in her house. And more nightmare stories about the hotel where she went to stay while the contractors were thrashing her house... I laughed so hard I cried, but not, of course, at her. I like my uncle's girlfriend. She's okay. :)
So I have to register today for spring, and I spent last night finalizing what I was taking. Was going to do Intermediate Algebra, Web Design, and Women's Studies, but Women's Studies just would not fit into my schedule. Only one section of Web, of coure, and I had an Algebra teacher in mind. Went to see this semester's teacher, whom I love, to find out if she or her office mate (who I also adore) were teaching the class next semester. They aren't, but I got a name of someone with a similar teaching style that she thought I'd like. Who, of course, only has one section of Inter. Algebra.
At least it's not at 7:25.
Computers is Tuesday-Thursday, which means I'll have to learn to live without my two days off, but I think I can survive it. If I only have that computer class on those days, I'll still have to hang out at school till noon, but I'm hoping the textbooks don't preclude my taking the laptop along so I can get some real work done. :)
The Crazy Woman in disabled students suggested I take Health as my third class. Um, yeah. I want an easy class, not a brain dead class. And Health is, you know, flatline. Seriously. Will take it, but not this time 'round.
So I'm taking Sociology instead. Three hours of getting lectured at a week, taking reams of notes- hey, sounds like PoliSci.
I find out today how I did on the computers test. Funnily enough I don't actually care if I passed- probably because I'm pretty sure I did. I could kill my teacher, though. Asshole... some girl shows up; "Oh my god, do we have a test today? I totally didn't study. Can I take it later?"
And he says "Okay."
He said okay!
Argh.
Oh, and my Amazon stuff finally showed up. I got someone else's invoice thingy in with my own, though, so maybe that's where the mixup came from about whether it was delivered already or not? I'm just glad I have my stuff, and I don't have to argue with anyone about whether I did or didn't get it.
And as usual, I don't want to go to school today. Would be nice if I got a choice in the matter.
The weather is going crazy; it's cold, it's hot, it's cold, it's hot- I'm saving every black shirt I have for Friday, and I still don't know which of them I'm wearing for the Psi Cop costume. Whatever works, I guess.
Half of SoCal is on fire. Everybody okay? I watch it on the news and it looks like a different world, but I probably know people down there...
Iraq is becoming Vietnam: the next generation. I hate it so much I have no words.
