icons & seaQuest

I think I need some icons that aren't Alias, or Harry Potter, or the one Babylon 5 icon I bothered to upload...have had this crazy idea lately for a LOTR screencap of Gandalf with "urbandruid" written on it, and maybe a little slogan. If I can come up with a little slogan. Of course, this would also require LOTR screencaps, of which I have none. Could fix that, I suppose, in my (ha, ha, funny joke) spare time. Right.

I hate Thursdays. I don't want to go to French, don't want to find out what my test score was, and don't want to go to the language lab.

Sometimes I feel like screaming, you know? Like this is bullshit and I have real work to do- I can't stick around and listen to the idiots in my French class speaking everything but French when Madame steps out, I've got to run home and finish Alias fic. Or break down and work on the seaQuest fansite that's been clamoring to be made for ages now...

And half of you are thinking, "what the hell is seaQuest?" while the rest are laughing at me. But I always did like that show quite a bit- but just the first season. After that it got really weird. And stupid and sexist and... Somewhere on the old computer I may still have the letter I sent to Steven Spielberg after the start of second season, bitching about sexism and other idiocy. It was a good letter for someone who was maybe all of thirteen at the time. I doubt he ever read it, but it made me feel better to have sent it.

Typical of me, I suppose- I obsess about things that people don't remember. I loved the first season cast of characters, but I've forever had this strange connection with seaQuest's first captain, Marilyn Stark. Yes, the crazy one. Although if I had more time I could tell you my theories on why she's not really crazy, or why she is but it's okay...

Yeah. This is what's been going on in my head lately.

I'm making seaQuest icons when I get home. I know I am. Stark icons with sarcastic commentary. And you'll all have to put up with them for a while. Maybe a long while.

Wait till you hear how I got the screencaps. Talk about nostalgia...

I mean, I can't have been the only one who tried taking pictures of the TV screen when I was a kid, right?

Did you know, with a digital camera, if you time it right, it actually works? Really, it does. And finding that out was fun.

I am such a geek. :)

Hey, it's how I got the pictures for the Mandarkers society. :P Eeeg, we're dorks!!!

Oh yes, we're dorks. And loving it, of course.

The only problem I had was figuring out the timing, because there's a couple-second delay (3, I think) between hitting the button and the camera taking the picture. Not sure if that's just how the camera works, or if I have the timer on all the time. If I'd read the book I might know this, but what's the fun of reading the book? ;)

Anyway, I find it hysterical that you did the same thing. I may be a geek, but I'm not a geek alone, damnit! And now that I know this works, I may be in real trouble...

That's why you pause the tape, dearie :D

Oh yes, quite. Works better if you don't have an ancient VCR and a tape you've watched about a hundred times, though... Hmm. Perhaps I ought to use my own VCR instead of Mom's antique. ;)
