Dear LJ, Bite Me

I was bored last night, I couldn't sleep, and in between RP tags, I had a thought.

I hate the crap Six Apart has been doing lately, and a lot of it seems to be based on keeping their adverisers happy.

I had a lot of plus accounts, the ones that are ad-supported but give you more icons/layout choices/crap like that. And then I thought, the ads are starting to overtake my Norton ad blocking stuff anyway, AND I'm pretty pissed at 6A.

So I went and downgraded. ALL of them. You guys know how many RP/writing/random crap journals I have, so... yeah.

This morning I was playing around with the layout of this journal, and was about to switch back to plus- literally about to- because it just won't do what I want it to- when I decided to check out my flist, and saw the new... hell, I don't even know what to call it.

And I thought, well, fuck that. I don't care if I only have six icons, if I have to get used to a layout other than the one I've had for years. I don't care if I can't post polls, or voice stuff- never did anyway. I'll be damned if I support these freaks in any way.

And you know? Maybe none of us should anymore. Just saying. If you guys are getting pissed at LJ again, and you've got plus accounts? Think about demoting them to freebies.

I sort of doubt it'd make a huge difference, but if enough of us did it, they'd have to notice, even if it's just for a second or two.

yeah, too bad I actually trusted Barak when he said HP fandom was safe, and shelled out the $$ for the permanent account. *sigh*

Get it refunded. I know they say no refunds, but apparently if you threaten to sue them, they cough it up. I also think that may be the only way to get the point across...hit 'em in the pocketbook.

You know, I think ashkitty is right, if this thing blows up the way it's looking like it's going to, you should try for a refund. Take the money and run if you can.

The cynical me wonders how much good it'll do, but it at least made me feel like I was doing something in protest.
